HOMESTEAD SCHOOLS GIVES AWAY FREE COMPUTERS TO NEW STUDENTS |
|
Homestead Schools located in Torrance, California is giving away free computers to students who are enrolling in their next vocational nursing class. Homestead started two classes in January and is now recruiting students for March 2008.
Each student whose
application is verified and accepted will receive a laptop computer loaded with
over 3000 NCLEX-style questions so that the student can start taking practice
tests from the beginning.
Homestead offers a
one-year vocational nursing program with flexible schedules such as morning
classes, evening classes, and even weekend classes to accommodate varying
working hours of students which allow may of them to keep their present jobs
while preparing for a new career. Morning classes run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
evening classes 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and weekend classes from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Clinical training schedules are also flexible. Homestead has contracts with
several local hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities, which allow
students to complete their extensive training in a practical environment during
evening and weekend hours.
Theoretical
instruction is provided in pleasant and spacious classrooms at the school campus
in Torrance. The school has a policy of limiting class sizes to between 10-15
students in order to provide individual attention and lively interaction between
students and teacher. Furthermore, the school provides each student with a
computer in the classroom with Internet connection and e-mail capability.
Classroom computers
are programmed with over 15,000 NCLEX-style questions so that students become
familiar with the questions while honing their test-taking skills. The school is
dedicated to students’ eventual success at the board-administered NCLEX exam
and, therefore, uses every tool and opportunity to provide actual training in a
simulated environment, including a 4-week NCLEX-review session at the end of the
year. Most schools generally charge for NCLEX review classes or leave it up to
the students to find and pay for this essential training but Homestead is doing
it for free. This is also the reason why Homestead is giving away free computers
to students upon enrollment, so students can start practicing for the exam even
at home. Homestead Schools has been a leading provider of continuing education
to registered and licensed vocational nurses for over 17 years and has become a
household name in the healthcare community.
