FINANCIAL AID COMES
TO HOMESTEAD!
Vocational Nursing Program at Homestead,
Wait No More!
Many of you have
heard about the vocational nursing program offered by Homestead Schools and some
of you may even have visited the school, met with the admissions counselor and
faculty, taken the entrance exam, and filled out the application to join the
program, and then run right into this brick wall shattering your dreams of
becoming a licensed vocational nurse because you could not get a student loan to
finance your education or because you or your parents did not have sufficient
personal funds to pay your way through the school.
In recent months as
the financial crisis gripped our banking institutions it has become nearly
impossible to obtain a student loan for any kind of a program. Sallie Mae, a
major provider of funding for various educational programs, has all but shut
down its credit lending programs for students. Homestead had to turn away a
large number of ambitious, qualified prospective students simply because they
couldn’t get a loan or didn’t have the personal funds to pay for the schooling.
But the situation
has changed now. Homestead Schools was recently approved for Title IV funding
programs by the U.S. Department of Education. The U.S. government wants to make
sure that no qualified student is held back from getting the education or
vocational training that the student needs to become a productive member of the
society simply because the student or the family lacks the financial
wherewithal.
Under Title IV
there’re a variety of programs: some involve outright aid with no repayment
required; some have direct loans from the U.S. Treasury with low interest rates;
some provide loans from private lenders; and in some cases there’s a loan
program for parents of dependent students. Each situation needs to be looked at
individually.
Besides the
financial aid and guaranteed loans under Title IV from the U.S. Department of
Education, Homestead offers you many benefits when you join their vocational
nursing program: all the prescribed text books, equipment for the skills lab and
clinical training, smart-looking uniforms, a laptop computer loaded with
over 3,000 NCLEX-style questions to practice your test-taking skills, four-week
NCLEX review classes to the student, individualized tutoring for those
who need it, and employment assistance when you graduate.
So, you see, there’s
no reason for anyone with the desire and determination to get ahead in life to
be held back.
Your first step is
to contact student counselors at Homestead Schools.
Call them at (310) 791-9975 and set up an appointment. He’ll give you a complete
rundown on all the programs. He’ll analyze your personal financial situation and
explain to you the various options available. He’ll determine the amount of
financial aid available to you. He’ll also look at your income to see if you
might be eligible for subsidized loans. In other words, he’ll put an entire
package together for you.
Homestead offers its
vocational nursing classes on three schedules: day classes from 9 to 3; evening
from 4 to 10; and part-time weekend classes from 8 to 4 on Saturdays and
Sundays. The next set of classes start in October and November. The school is
presently accepting applications for the classes. Each class has only a limited
number of openings and these will be filled up very quickly. So make your
appointment today.
