Identification and Resolution of Conflict of Interest

POLICY

It is the policy of Homestead Schools, Inc. that all planners, authors, and presenters of continuing nursing education activities shall complete a Faculty Disclosure Form, identifying financial relationships that can constitute vested interests/conflict of interest – real or perceived.

Financial relationships are defined by the ANCC as those relationships in which the individual benefits by receiving a salary, royalty, intellectual property rights, consulting fees, honoraria, ownership interest, or any other financial benefit. ANCC considers relationships of the person involved in the educational activity to include financial relationships of family members. ANCC considers any relationships in any amounts occurring within the past 12 months as relevant in terms of creating a conflict of interest.

An individual who refuses to disclose financial relationships will not be used as a planner, author, or presenter of continuing nursing education activities.

In addition to disclosing the absence or presence of vested interest to activity participants, Homestead Schools, Inc. will document how any conflict of interest is resolved.  Generally, resolution includes full disclosure and assurance of an unbiased presentation that does not include content about specific agents/devices.

Homestead Schools, Inc. is solely responsible for the quality and content of this CE program and for the selection of its instructor/author, and receives no outside financial support in the preparation, presentation or implementation of its CE activities. The sponsor has no affiliation with companies whose products or services are mentioned in this course material; they are mentioned only for their educational and informational value. The sponsor's sole source of revenue is the tuition paid by participants like you in its CE program.

* Bias is defined as: preferential influence that causes a distortion of opinion or of facts. Commercial bias may occur when an educational activity promotes one or more product(s) (drugs, devices, services, software, hardware etc.) This definition is not all inclusive and participants may use their own interpretation in deciding if a presentation is biased.

NOTE: Statements of commercial support and /or conflict of interest disclosures do not represent bias. Such statements inform the learner that the provider has implemented a mechanism to identify and resolve all conflicts of interest prior to delivery of the educational material.
